Fairyland, brought to you by the Playa fairies A Burning Man Theme Camp

The Play Fairies return to Burning Man and the playa again in 2008.

Much of the symbolism of the past years will carry forward for the Fairyland camp, and we will reunite with the kindred spirits of past Fairyland incarnations. This year promises to be another new and exciting chapter in the Playa Fairies experience. We will continue providing our fun events on the playa throughout the week including sock poi making, a general arts and crafts, an event centered around Tutu’s, and many more things. The Fairy Star

The septagram which is a seven-pointed star is similar to a pentagram, yet highly different. While many of the points of the septagram hold elemental symbolism (such as passion and energy of fire; voice, soul and thought as wind; dynamic deep nature of water; stability of life and earth), it is far more complex than the pentagram and represents a belief in fairies and magic. The septagram is a continuously drawn figure, and is a far less religious symbol than the pentagram. It is a sacred symbol to Wicca’s who follow the fairy traditions. Often the septagram is considered a symbol of higher understanding. The septagram, with the number seven, representing magic and spiritual realms often associated with fairies, is believed to have a different meanings for each story teller. Additionally, the number seven in many cultures is considered to be a magical or lucky number, and can be used to indicate appreciation and knowledge of fairies. Thus this is our fairy star. There is much meaning in the Fairy Star which has gained popularity over the past years. The star in Fairyland represents a belief in fairies, magic, fun and frolic and is a symbol of magic, childhood and whimsy. You can view the Fairy Star as a symbol to remind people of the magic in their lives and of their childhood, and the fascination with all things fairy.This year the Fairy Star continues to be a beacon of our conscious existence to bring us home and remind us of the power of our minds over the world we exist in.
